Substitute Fonts
Our official fonts are Gotham and Mercury, but if you don’t have those fonts on your computer, you may substitute Arial or Calibri for Gotham and Georgia for Mercury.
Gotham
We use Gotham and Gotham Narrow as our primary font. It is modern, crisp and gets to the point.
Gotham, designed by Tobias Frere-Jones in 2000, has become a stalwart of typographic communication in the first decades of this century, and has been our house typeface for a long time. Its letterforms are inspired by architectural signage designed in the mid-century.
Mercury
Mercury is our secondary font and is mainly used as an accent or as body text in The Flame magazine.
Mercury is the product of nine years’ research and development and part of a family of high-performance text faces designed to thrive under the most adverse conditions. Designed by Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones in 1997 it has a sophisticated, mature and academic character which is well suited to our institution.
