Getting Started
CGU Core is what you’ll use to implement the Claremont Graduate University brand on your site. It is an ecosystem of CSS, Javascript, and WordPress theme files. Depending on what your goals are, you may need to use CGU Core in different ways. Select the path that applies to you:
Regular users:
I just want to install the CGU Core theme on my WordPress site and be done with it
- Fantastic! Getting your WordPress site setup with the CGU Core theme is easy. Just download the
cgu-core.zip
archive below - Then, navigate to your WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance > Themes. At the top of the next page click the “Add New” button. On the next page click the “Upload Theme” button and you’ll be able to upload your zip file.
- That’s it! Activate the theme and you’re ready to go.

WordPress theme developers:
I’m looking to customize or create a child of the CGU Core theme
- Now we’re getting serious! Go to the CGU Core repository on Github and clone or download the theme. Install this in your local WordPress environment and you’re ready to start hacking.

- If you just want to use the CGU Core front-end (CSS, Javascript, icon font), you can grab the release files below. These also exist in the /release directory in the CGU Core repo on Github.
